Pursuing good communications

I started my career as a BBC journalist and video trainer. I moved into charity comms and video production for ten years, and then most recently was Head of Content at a PR agency.

I am a certified Digital Marketing Professional (accredited by the Digital Marketing Institute) and I have a BJTC accredited post-graduate qualification in Broadcast Journalism.

Over the last 20 years, I have enjoyed the challenge of interviewing about 1,000 people - from Premier League football managers, to people showing dignity and courage when facing famine in South Sudan.

Working on good, creative projects (either my own, or championing others) really gets me going. I wrote Easter (LIVE) the first real-time Passion Play for Twitter, which gained media coverage and awards.

Having regularly worked with other filmmakers, copywriters and designers I know both sides of the commissioning process inside and out. In fact, I wrote an eBook called How to commission better videos.

My friends say I spot typos too quickly (!), but they also say I am an astute news editor with a passion for stories that help change lives and policies.

Living in Southampton with my wife and two boys. I love watching Ipswich Town FC, when I can, and I'm trying to run more and tell funnier jokes...
